Our heart is to help people with misattributed parentage experiences (MPE) as they navigate their surprise DNA discoveries. We understand shock, feelings of grief, abandonment, betrayal, identity crisis, shame, anxiety, and depression (to name a few..) that often manifest from DNA discovery. Our experience is that the community shares commonalities, but also differences. Some people with MPEs have miraculous bonding with their new families while others face rejection. Still yet, there are those whose family members have passed away and others where DNA tests resulted in only finding out you have a different parent, but no leads toward who it is. The journey for people with MPEs is marked with ambiguous loss and the search for self. We have experience in this journey extensively and too, know the ups and downs and everything in between. Together, it’s our hope to help the community in whatever stage of the MPE process they’re currently in, through mental health education and referrals to licensed therapists that specialize in this field. We’ll walk this road alongside you in an alliance as additions to the pages of your story are processed and written.
